Maggie Grace is an American actress who was born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her most well-known roles are Shannon Rutherford, a character from ABC's Lost series, and Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Her birthplace was Worthington, Ohio and dropped out of high school after her parents split up to move to Los Angeles to live with her mother. Her first role came to her in the film, Rachel's Room's lead character in 2001, despite having a difficult time financially. The actress was able to secure an Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 for her performance as the 15 year old murder victim Martha Moxley in the television film Murder which aired in Greenwich. Grace Rutherford, a character she played in Lost from 2004 to 2005 was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace left the show to focus on her film career. She had appeared alongside Tom Welling opposite in The Fog earlier in the year 2005. The actress starred on the screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in both 2007 and Taken (2008) with Liam Neeson. She reprised her role for Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a contemporary adaptation of the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace was back on the Lost series for the last two episodes, playing Shannon. In 2013, she appears in the episode Californianation of the 6th season. She portrays Faith she is an admirer and muse to the stars. Hank Moody as played by David Duchovny falls in love with her. As a member of the Gyllenhaal family she is the daughter of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and the older sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Her first appearances were in films starring her father as an adolescent. With her brother, she appeared as a character in Donnie Darko (2000). Then she appeared on the screen in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). The leading roles of Gyllenhaal in Secretary, a romantic comedy-drama erotico, and Sherrybaby (a drama) have earned her nominations to the Golden Globe Awards. After several commercially successful films in 2006 such as World Trade Center she received more attention for her role as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). The role she played in Crazy Heart as a mother with a single child earned her nomination for an Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. The roles she played in subsequent films include Nanny McPhee, the Big Bang and Hysteria. She also was the role of a Secret Service Agent in White House Down, an action thriller that was released in 2013. She also played she was a musician on the set of Frank (2014) and the lead role for the lead role in The Kindergarten Teacher, a film that debuted in the year 2018. In 2021, Gyllenhaal has made her scriptwriting and directing debut in the psychological drama The Lost Daughter for which she was awarded The Lost Daughter the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
