Madhuri dixit Madhuri dixit, an Indian actress famous for Hum Aapke Hain Koun (Beta Saajan) and Beta Saajan is among the most popular Indian actors. In the 1980s the actress began her acting career. She became popular with the role of Tezaab, in which she starred alongside an established actor Anil Kapooor. The next film she appeared in was Dil in which she starred alongside Aamir. In Mumbai the city she was born by middle class parents. At a very young age, she started to learn dance. While still a teenager she tried her hand at acting, however most films she attempted to make did not succeed. Her breakthrough came when she finally had success and she became one of the top actors in the Indian film business. Following her wedding ceremony, she took a break from her acting career prior to returning. She played a major role on Gulaab Gang, a film that explores the struggles of women in India. Dixit is nominated to win fifteen Filmfare Awards, out of which she won eight. Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award in India, was bestowed upon her. In addition, she is acknowledged for her work in the field of charity.
